THE IMPACT OF OUR WORLD OCEANS ON OUR DAILY LIVES - Robin Eschler Socially Conscience Investing Radio Show

Blue Ocean Sciences, founded by Dr. Andrea Neal (Dr. "Dre"), has the mission of conducting accurate scientific research on the health of our world oceans and communicating findings to both scientific and global communities.  Dr. Andrea Neal’s expertise is not only in science but also in large project management and communication.  With a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Lipid Biochemistry, Dr. Andrea Neal has over13 years of experience in management of large-scale international projects, environmental campaigns, and scientific research. In addition, she is the Science Advisor for Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ocean Futures Society.

Although there is no Texas-sized plastic island, the oceans are in danger due to small particles and chemical changes that are being observed.  As Dr. "Dre" shares, blue ocean, where the North Pacific and sub-tropical oceans converge, is vulnerable to small changes that can magnify over time and have significant global impact.

In addition to discussing the pollution of our oceans and the education of youth and adults by encouraging involvement and understanding "how" our daily choices and actions affect our planet, Dr. Dre answers questions about the impact of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan.  She also shares the new technologies that are being researched, like energy sources, in partnership with industry.

Other sensitive topics are touched including the international community's perspective toward the environment and how protecting our oceans may impact certain industries including commercial fishing.  She addresses flame retardant laws in California that have increased up to 100-fold the exposure to dangerous chemicals that negatively impact endocrine systems as well as reproduction.
